My time in London was coming to an end and I knew I needed to visit Oxford before I left. My luck made it that I’ve visited Brown, Upenn, Princeton, Harvard, Yale, MIT which is la crème de la crème of American universities. I wanted to compare with one of the oldest universities in Europe, Oxford.
I arrived by coach, the architecture was mesmerizing. I took a guided tour and the guide was very smart. He brought us into the different colleges and explained the reason why Oxford has its own town. It was because in the past, like in the 1300, students and locals would often fight and some students died therefore they made all the ressources a student would need in short distance, so that they would not have to venture into town.
Oxford University has a beautiful campus, the buildings, especially the Camera building was out of this world. You could feel the history of the place just by being there. I immediately wanted to do a semester abroad here. There was a lot of tourist and I of course visited the Harry Potter filming scenes.
After the tour, I was lucky to be able to walk around town to immerse myself more. My Italian friend Giulia joined. We felt back in 1300s. I do not know how to explain this feeling into words, but time felt endless. The streets were filled with kind students who wore their school merch proudly.
I have learned a lot and even saw pieces of Magna Carta
Thank you,
